What can we expect from this episode

A courier dials 911 after coming across an injured senior citizen. The man’s wounds are consistent with his having been involved in a car crash. He’s taken to the hospital immediately, but sadly he can’t be saved. Alan Greaves, the man’s grandfather, was on his way to midnight mass to play the organ, as evidenced by his belongings.

It wasn’t a car accident, doctors tell police; Alan was severely beaten. Alan’s head is examined, and a piece of wood is removed for forensic analysis. Now that it’s a murder investigation, CSI agents are at the scene taking evidence like Alan’s bloodstained hat and railings to the lab for analysis. CCTV footage is retrieved, and witnesses are interviewed.

Two suspects were seen running and laughing away from the scene. The police think they have seen the men following Alan on CCTV, but the footage is grainy and they can’t identify them. Even though Alan’s killers are still at large, the case is solved thanks to forensic analysis of the wooden splinter found in his head.

Forensic scientists and detectives examine evidence to identify unknown killers.
