In Trackdown, Sid and Chico are asked by wealthy trainer Jack Beater to investigate when his top flight horse is beaten by a series of long shots, investigating further sees the pair of them becoming embroiled in not just a case of race fixing but also murder! Halley also gets his new prosthetic hand and begins to learn how to use it.
A good episode featuring a dodgy fight scene which does allow Halley to try out his new steel prosthetic hand but the actual plotline on this one is well worked out, there’s a small role for Carol Royle who doesn’t do much except tell everyone she meets that she is not married to Tom Mansfield but only lives with him, all becomes clear when Halley pays her a visit and she comes on to him. Watch out too for the excellent David Calder.
