What is this episode about

Since her first visit to Australia when she was a child, Lyn Walters has been obsessed with the idea of permanently relocating her family there. But Owen, her husband, doesn’t share her enthusiasm for all things Australian. He needs convincing that life in Australia is reasonable and within his means.

The Walters are dad Owen, mum Lyn and Matilda, age two. Lyn’s goal in life from the moment the couple met was to move to Australia. Owen has always harboured this ambition, but he and his wife had to put it on hold while they started a family and settled down. But Owen anticipated that Lyn would eventually bring it up again.

Lyn feels that now is the time to bring this concept of Australia back to life. Before Matilda plants any permanent roots at her new school and before Lyn is too old for a visa, the family must uproot and relocate. Owen isn’t completely on board with the plan, but he takes a more measured approach to any potential action. He worries about what they’d be abandoning, or more accurately, about who they’d be abandoning. Lyn is aware that leaving will hurt him deeply. Owen’s parents, who are now doting grandparents, are also very important to him. Lyn recognises this as an obstacle and is concerned that it will influence his performance during the trial week. She really wants him to give the free week a shot.

Owen is willing to do just that, so the two of them are going to Perth for a week and then casting their vote. To remain in the UK or to uproot completely? But nothing has been decided yet. Although Lyn knows what she wants, will Owens desire to remain close to his family and friends ultimately prove decisive?
