“Mayor of Kingstown” Returns This June for Season 3 on Paramount+
The highly anticipated third season of “Mayor of Kingstown,” the crime thriller series co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, is set to premiere on Paramount+ on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in the US and Canada, with a rollout in other international markets starting June 3. The season marks Jeremy Renner’s return to the screen after his recovery from a serious accident.
“Mayor of Kingstown” is set in the titular town, where the business of incarceration is the dominant industry. The series follows the McLusky family, who act as power brokers between the police, criminals, inmates, prison guards, and politicians. The third season will see the family facing a new threat from the Russian mob, while a drug war rages inside and outside the prison walls.
The pressure falls on Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) to end the war, but his efforts are complicated by the return of a familiar face from his incarcerated past, threatening to undermine his attempts to keep the peace.
The cast of season 3 includes Renner, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Michael Beach. Notably, Dianne Wiest, who played Mariam McLusky in the first two seasons, will not be returning. New additions to the cast include Richard Brake, Denny Love, and Paula Malcomson, whose character is being kept under wraps.
The show’s co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, is known for his successful roster of shows on Paramount+, including “Yellowstone” and its spinoffs. “Mayor of Kingstown” has been praised for tackling real-world issues like systemic racism and political corruption.
The first two seasons of “Mayor of Kingstown” are currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
