It’s week 2 heat 2 of MasterChef: The Professionals 2023 and we are profiling the contestants. Molly is 27 and from Leeds.
Leeds-based private chef Molly has been working in kitchens since she was 12 years old. Now 27, Molly owns her own private hire business with her partner Charlotte.
Molly’s journey to becoming a chef started at a local French bistro. She then worked at Kendell’s Bistro in Leeds and The Vincent and Wine & Wallop. Currently, she owns a private chef company called byMölly.
When asked about how she got into cooking and what she loves about it, Molly explained that as a child, her mother was always working, so she wanted to cook a nice meal for her to come home to. She didn’t want her mother to have microwave meals, so she taught herself how to cook proper food. Molly fell in love with cooking from the beginning. It felt natural to her, and she was good at it. She knew that cooking was her path.
Molly’s style of cooking is heavily influenced by her years spent in a French bistro, where she learned classic French food. However, her style is also varied when it comes to her food business. She describes it as fine dining with a Molly twist. Molly wants her food to be accessible, not overly intricate, but still delicious with great flavors and appealing presentation.
When asked about why she wanted to take part in MasterChef: The Professionals, Molly explained that she has been cooking for as long as she can remember, and she simply loves what she does. She wants to see what she is capable of and inspire other young chefs, especially young females. Molly believes that you don’t have to come from the best backgrounds to make something good out of yourself.
Outside of cooking, Molly is a huge football fan and follows Leeds Utd, the game also led to her meeting her partner Charlotte too.
