Ladies of the Chorus (Columbia 1949, Marilyn Monroe, Rand Brooks)
Marilyn Monroe is the main attraction in light musical romance Ladies of the Chorus; she plays a chorus girl who meets a wealthy socialite and falls for him. Her mom (with whom she shares the stage) refuses to give the romance a green light. Eventually it becomes known that the mother fell for the same man several years earlier.
Very young and beautiful, Monroe had yet to develop the screen personality she would become known for; nevertheless, her talents are very much apparent in this film, her second appearance on screen.
After appearing in Ladies of the Chorus Monroe was dropped by Columbia Pictures when they failed to renew her contract.
Songs include Every Baby Needs A Da Da Daddy, Anyone Can Tell I Love You, Crazy For You, You’re Never Too Old.
