Abbott Elementary, April 10, 2024, ABC, “Alex”
In the latest episode of the mockumentary-style sitcom Abbott Elementary, Jacob is in for a shock as he discovers his colleagues are not invested in his frequent email messages. The episode, titled “Alex,” is the ninth installment of the show’s third season and airs on April 10, 2024, on ABC.
The dedicated and passionate teachers of Abbott Elementary, along with their slightly tone-deaf principal, are determined to help their students succeed despite the challenges posed by an underfunded and mismanaged school system. In this episode, Jacob, played by Chris Perfetti, finds himself in an unexpected situation when he realizes that his well-crafted email messages are not resonating with his colleagues as he had hoped.
Meanwhile, Gregory, portrayed by Tyler James Williams, faces a different challenge. He turns to Janine, played by series creator Quinta Brunson, for help with a former student. Gregory, who started as a substitute teacher and later became a full-time educator, develops a crush on Janine.
The ensemble cast also includes Janelle James as the school’s principal, Ava Coleman; Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, a second-grade teacher; Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, a kindergarten teacher; and William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, the school custodian.
Abbott Elementary is set in a predominantly Black Philadelphia public school, mirroring the experiences of its creator, Quinta Brunson, whose mother was a schoolteacher. The series has received critical acclaim and strong viewership, winning several Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.
Abbott Elementary airs Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 9:00 PM on ABC.
