Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan reprise their hosting duties for British television’s biggest night, celebrating the best of UK television in 2023.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is set to host its annual Television Awards with P&O Cruises, recognising the very best in British television from the past year. The awards ceremony will air on BBC One and iPlayer this Sunday, 12 May 2024, with coverage beginning at 7 pm.

Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan will return as hosts, bringing their unique brand of humour and camaraderie to the prestigious event. The duo previously hosted the 2023 edition of the awards, helping to draw a peak audience of 4.4 million viewers, the highest ratings since 2021. Clips from the night also received nearly 12 million views on social media.

The BAFTA Television Awards honour the shows and creative talent that captured the hearts and minds of BAFTA’s television voting membership. This year, a total of 118 programmes received nominations across 47 competitive categories. Leading the nominations are The Crown with eight, Black Mirror: Demon 79 with seven, and Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and The Sixth Commandment with six each.

The awards will celebrate the extraordinary craft and creativity of the UK television industry, with categories recognising exceptional performances, writing, directing, and more. The awards also shine a spotlight on memorable TV moments, with the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award, the only BAFTA Television Award decided by a public vote. This year’s nominees for this category include moments from Derry Girls, Heartstopper, Platinum Jubilee: Party at the Palace, and Stranger Things.

The red carpet proceedings will be hosted by Clara Amfo and Michelle Visage, offering viewers an insider’s perspective on the glamour and excitement of the event. With a star-studded guest list, including the likes of Ant & Dec, Kate Winslet, Cillian Murphy, and David Tennant, the BAFTA Television Awards promise to be a highlight of the industry calendar.

The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will air on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday, 12 May 2024, at 7 pm.
