Freevee Greenlights “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” for Straight-to-Series Order

The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, starring Emmy® nominee and SAG Award winner Naveen Andrews (The Dropout, Lost), Sindhu Vee (Starstruck), and Tony contender Megan Hilty, has been given the go-ahead by Amazon Freevee.

The sitcom is based on the real-life experiences of Emmy® nominee Vijal Patel (Black-ish, The Middle), and it depicts the comedic adventures of the Pradeep family in their first few months in the United States.

In a humorous (and frequently contradictory) series of flashbacks from an interrogation room, we see how the Pradeeps soon become romantically, personally, and professionally entangled with a neighborhood family that couldn’t be more different from them. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios and consists of eight episodes, each running for thirty minutes.

Writer Vijal Patel will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Emmy winner Sara Gilbert, Mandy Summers, and Emmy winner Tom Werner are executive producers. Michael Showalter of Semi-Formal Productions is also an executive producer and will direct the pilot.

Vinod loves all things American and is excited for their new life in Pittsburgh. He’s quick to make friends, but in dealing with bullies he looks to the nonviolent tactics of his hero Gandhi.

Janice is a sexy suburban Christian who loves to preach forgiveness, but rarely forgives others.

Jimbo is a gregarious “guy’s guy” who tries to befriend the guys in the Pradeep family.

Stu is the Pradeeps’ teenage neighbor who spends most of his time in the garage. His “flannel hottie” vibe ensnares the Pradeeps’ teenage daughter from the get-go.
