Mammoth Episode 2, 24 April 2024, BBC Two
Mammoth continues its hilarious journey through time with the second episode of this fun comedy.
In this instalment, airing on BBC Two on Wednesday 24 April, Tony Mammoth, a PE teacher who was accidentally frozen in 1979 and brought back to life in 2024, navigates the complexities of his newfound life. Reeling from some unexpected news, Tony attempts to reconnect with his family, but his efforts don’t go as planned. He and Theo (Joel Davison) find themselves in a scuffle with a stranger, while his boss, Lucy (Mali Ann Rees), fends off peculiar locals who want to donate to her fertility treatment.
The episode explores Tony’s determination to make up for lost time with his new found daughter Mel (Sian Gibson) and the challenges he faces in adjusting to the modern world, all while staying true to his 1970s persona.
With a unique premise and confident delivery, Mammoth offers a light-hearted escape from the issues explored in many contemporary comedies, providing uncomplicated fun and a delightful performance by writer and star Mike Bubbins. It’s a shame that there only three episodes!
Mammoth airs on BBC Two at 10.00 pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
