Original Drama Series “Turn Up The Volume” Premieres This March on ABC Me
ABC has announced that the entire ten-episode drama series Turn Up The Volume will be available on ABC iview this March.
Showcasing the next generation of young Australian talent, the show follows a group of teenage girls and gender non-conforming teens as they join together at a music camp to form a rock band. The show emphasizes the transformative and bonding potential of music, creativity, and friendship.
Justine Clarke, Michala Banas, Kaiya Jones, and Spencer McLaren are among the well-known actors who are part of the show’s core cast.
The show follows a group of adolescent artists, including Vivi (Riya Mandrawa), Ginger (Elaine King), Breeze (Mira Russo), Hex (Erza James), and Jam (Ayiana Ncube), who all meet at a music camp.
At first, they are a mishmash of disillusionment and reckless enthusiasm, but they eventually find the inner fortitude to define themselves in their own terms and to find acceptance in the arms of a new society.
The documentary No Time For Quiet served as inspiration for “Turn Up The Volume,” which chronicles the first Ladies Rock! Camp held in Melbourne.
The power of music, friendship, and the creative process are examined, along with its transformative and bonding effects.
The drama series is a Matchbox Pictures and Film Camp production, with major production investment from Screen Australia and the ABC.
The show was financed with support from VicScreen, produced by Philippa Campey and Rachel Davis, and Executive Produced by Amanda Higgs, with ABC Executive Producer Margaret Ross.
Turn Up the Volume Premieres Friday 24 March at 7.00am on ABC iview and then ABC ME at 6.00pm.
