Palm Royale, May 1, 2024, Apple TV+, “Maxine Makes a Splash”
In the ninth episode of Palm Royale, airing on Apple TV+ on May 1, 2024, Maxine’s friend Evelyn must hide at Eddie’s place. Meanwhile, Doug makes a pitch for the Dellacorte, and Maxine and Robert make some surprising discoveries.
The episode begins with Evelyn, who is in a tricky situation and seeks refuge at Eddie’s place. Doug, on the other hand, is focused on his ambitions and makes a bold move towards achieving them. The core of the episode revolves around Maxine and Robert, who find themselves entangled in a web of secrets and mysteries as they stumble upon shocking revelations.
The show, set in 1969, follows the ambitious Maxine Simmons (played by Kristen Wiig), who strives to infiltrate the exclusive world of Palm Beach high society. Maxine is determined to cross the line between the “haves” and the “have-nots” and will stop at nothing to achieve her goal. She marries into the prestigious Dellacorte family, hoping to secure her place in high society. However, she faces challenges as the family matriarch, Norma Dellacorte, disapproves of her.
Maxine’s grifter personality and unreliable narration keep the audience guessing about her true motives and how far she will go to attain her desires. Her relationship with Robert, the club bartender, is particularly important to the story, as it evolves throughout the series.
With a talented ensemble cast, including Allison Janney, Laura Dern, Ricky Martin, Carol Burnett, and Josh Lucas, Palm Royale offers a colorful examination of the glamorous and secretive world of Palm Beach high society.
Palm Royale airs Tuesday, May 1, 2024, at 3:00 am on Apple TV+.
