Chef Jet Tila is back with another episode of his show, Ready Jet Cook, on Food Network. In this episode, Chef Jet will be cooking up some easy comfort classics, starting with one of his all-time favourites, Lo Mein. He will then take viewers on a culinary adventure to a local market, where he will handpick the freshest ingredients for his next creation, Pineapple Fried Rice.
Lo Mein is a Chinese dish that often contains vegetables and some type of meat or seafood. It is usually served with wonton and can also be eaten with just vegetables. The term “Lo Mein” comes from the Cantonese “lou1 min6”, meaning “stirred noodles”. In its country of origin, it is made with thin flour-and-egg noodles that are notable for their elastic texture.
In this episode, Chef Jet will be demonstrating how to make Lo Mein, a dish that is as simple to prepare as it is flavorful.
Pineapple Fried Rice is believed to have originated from Chinese people living in Thailand. They noticed that many Thai dishes include fruits as an ingredient and decided to add pineapple to fried rice. It became very popular with both the Thai people and Westerners. Chef Jet will head out on a culinary adventure to a local market, where he will handpick the freshest ingredients for his Pineapple Fried Rice.
Chef Jet Tila is a chef, culinary anthropologist, entrepreneur, and Food Network star. He was born in Los Angeles, California, to Thai Chinese parents who immigrated to the United States separately in 1966.
