Recap, American Idol Auditions 4, March 17, 2024, ABC

American Idol 2024

After a brief hiatus for the Oscars, American Idol returned to ABC on Sunday night with its fourth week of auditions. Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan revisited their hometowns of Santa Barbara, Tuskegee, and Leesburg to continue their search for talent. They also scouted for singers in Los Angeles and Nashville.

In a lighthearted competition between the judges, Katy challenged Lionel and Luke to a game of pickleball to determine who had the best hometown. With a score of 8-1, Katy emerged victorious alongside her mother Mary Hudson.

But it wasn’t all fun and games as the panel listened to more aspiring artists hoping to earn that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood. Standout performances included Deida Jeudy from Taveres, Florida who impressed with her rendition of “River” by Leon Bridges. Elleigh Marie from American Fork, Utah showcased her talent while opening up about her military father’s deployment and her mother’s health struggles. Athena Jett from Las Vegas wowed the judges after singing “Somebody New” by Sophie James.
