Safari Resort Set “Renovation Wild” Premieres May 15 on HGTV
Renovation Wild, HGTV’s first Africa-based series, premieres on Monday, May 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and follows the renovation of two safari resorts in Zambia.
What is Renovation Wild About
The eight-part series will follow resort owners Grant and Lynsey Cumings and their children as they tackle the challenges of renovating in a remote location alongside their right-hand man and project manager, Ngoli, and resort manager, Juliet. The series will be set against the breathtaking backdrop of Lower Zambezi National Park. Their plans to improve their resort in the middle of the African bush may be derailed by a variety of logistical nightmares, such as the monsoon season, extreme supply chain issues, and countless encounters with exotic wildlife.
In the pilot, the Cumings family begins restoring Old Mondoro’s most run-down villas just as the monsoon season’s first storms hit. They will collaborate on new designs for the reed villas’ updated en suite bathrooms and a one-of-a-kind outdoor lavatory. Grant and Lynsey are also planning a luxurious renovation of their sister property Chiawa.
What does Grant Cumings Say
“There’s nothing more challenging than creating beauty when Mother Nature seems to be out to get you with every move you make,” said Grant. “I was born here in Zambia, our safari lodges are here and we’re raising our family here, so everything is on the line. And it’s survival of the fittest out there.”
