Series Premiere, Passenger, March 24, ITV1
Prepare to embark on a thrilling journey as ITV1 presents the series premiere of “Passenger” on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 9:00 pm. Set in the close-knit town of Chadder Vale, this new show introduces us to D.I. Riya Ajunwa—a detective tired of solving mundane crimes and living an uneventful life.
When Katie Wells mysteriously goes missing one night in the forest, Riya sees it as an opportunity to break free from her monotonous routine. However, just when she thinks this could be the case that changes everything, Katie suddenly reappears safe and sound at home after 24 hours.
But Riya’s intuition tells her something is amiss. She senses there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Why won’t Katie reveal what happened in the forest? And what about other reports of young people vanishing, all connected to the fracking site and a peculiar old tree on the outskirts of town? The discovery of a mutilated stag on a forest road adds another layer of mystery—someone or something has left it shattered into pieces.
Could Eddie Wells, Katie’s recently released father who committed a heinous crime five years ago—an event for which Riya played a pivotal role—be involved somehow? Or does Derek, Riya’s nouveau-riche acquaintance who runs the local bread factory with his uneasy brother, hold secrets?
In Episode 1 of Passenger, D.I. Riya Ajunwa refuses to accept surface-level explanations and starts piecing together connections between seemingly unrelated events—a solved missing person’s case and disturbing occurrences tied to both eco-protestors at the fracking site and trouble brewing at the bread factory. As tension mounts within Chadder Vale’s community and Katie experiences a terrifying encounter in the forest, echoes from her past resurface when her father reenters the scene following his early prison release.
The series is written by actor Andrew Buchan and the talented cast includes Jack James Ryan as John Trowbridge, Debbie Rush as Terry Jackson, Sophie Ellicott as Bev Broadbent, Jo Hartley as Linda Markel, David Threlfall as Jim Bracknell, and Wunmi Mosaku as D.I. Riya Ajunwa.
Tune in to ITV1 on March 24th at 9:00 pm to immerse yourself in the secrets and suspense of Chadder Vale.
