The stakes continue to rise in the latest episode of The Cleaning Lady, with “Know Thy Enemy” airing on FOX on Tuesday April 30.
Thony’s life takes a downward turn as she spirals out of control, pushing her sister-in-law, Fiona, to her limits. Fed up with Thony’s behaviour, Fiona seeks help from Russo.
Meanwhile, the power couple, Ramona and Jorge Sanchez, find themselves in a precarious situation as they scramble to erase any evidence of their involvement in Arman’s mess, ensuring that no traces lead back to them.
The Arman Morales Situation
Adan Canto, who played one of the central characters of Arman Morales in the series passed away at the age of 42 after a private battle with appendiceal cancer.
Canto’s portrayal of Arman Morales added depth and complexity to the character, who led a double life as the leader of the mob in Las Vegas. The writers of The Cleaning Lady faced a challenging task in deciding how to proceed with Arman’s character given the unexpected loss of the actor.
The show could have opted to recast the role, but this decision is not without its challenges, especially considering the popularity of the character and the established dynamic between Arman, Thony, and Nadia. Another option was to write Arman’s character out of the show, either temporarily or permanently.
In Season 3 of The Cleaning Lady, the absence of Arman is explained through a kidnapping plotline. In the season premiere, Arman is involved in a shootout at an airfield, where he is kidnapped by unknown captors. Thony (Élodie Yung) and Nadia (Eva De Dominici), Arman’s wife, manage to escape, but they are unable to reach him and fear the worst. This sets the stage for a multi-episode arc where Thony and Nadia, along with Arman’s cartel-involved aunt, Ramona (Kate del Castillo), and her associate Jorge (Santiago Cabrera), attempt to locate and rescue him.
The search for Arman involves a collaboration between Thony and Nadia, who put aside their differences to work together. They discover that Arman is being held by a group connected to Ramona’s cartel. The mystery of his disappearance and the efforts to find him unfold over several episodes, with the fifth episode revealing that Dante (Clayton Cardenas), a trusted lieutenant of Ramona, is responsible for Arman’s capture.
In the sixth episode, “El Reloj,” Thony and Fiona (Martha Millan) locate Arman, but a dangerous car chase ensues, leading to a tragic conclusion. Arman sacrifices himself to save Thony, and the vehicle carrying him drives off a cliff, implying his death. The episode ends with a romantic flashback of Arman and Thony dancing and kissing, along with a dedication to the memory of Adan Canto.
The handling of Arman’s exit from the show has been well-received by fans, who appreciated the tribute to the actor and the emotional impact of the storyline.
