The Good Doctor returns with an episode, “The Overview Effect,” that sees Shaun (Freddie Highmore), Jared, and Charlie’s young patient in need of a united front from his parents. The child’s health could be greatly improved by an important medical decision, but his parents are unable to agree on the best course of action. This impasse prompts Shaun and his team to intervene on the patient’s behalf.
The episode also sees the return of Dr. Claire Browne, who is back from her work in Guatemala for a personal medical examination. Dr. Glassman continues to struggle with Hannah, who remains unresponsive to his attempts to help. Meanwhile, Park seeks out the perfect last-minute wedding location.
The show, now in its seventh and final season, follows Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgeon with savant syndrome, as he navigates his career at the prestigious St. Bonaventure Hospital. Shaun’s unique abilities and perspective often lead to innovative solutions, but his struggles with social interaction and communication create challenges in his relationships with colleagues and patients.
