The Suspect Episode 3, 20 April 2024, ABC TV

The Suspect returns with its third episode on ABC TV on Saturday 20 April, continuing the gripping story of Dr. Joe O’Loughlin (Aidan Turner), a successful clinical psychologist whose life begins to unravel when he joins a police investigation. Accused of murder, Joe finds himself digging deeper into the case, unearthing details that lead him down an increasingly complex path.

In this episode, Joe embarks on his own investigation, questioning fellow professionals and requesting they break their ethical code by revealing confidential patient information. Joe’s focus shifts to Bobby Moran, who was ruled out by police in the previous episode due to an alibi. However, Joe discovers that Bobby Moran is actually Bobby Morgan from Liverpool, the same city where the murdered woman, Catherine, lived. As Joe investigates Bobby’s background, he learns about Bobby’s father, who took his own life after being accused of abusing his son.

Another intriguing plot twist emerges with the introduction of Jack, Joe’s best friend and the doctor who diagnosed him with Parkinson’s. It is revealed that Jack was having an affair with Catherine and encouraged her to apply for a receptionist job, putting himself down as a reference. The affair adds a layer of suspicion to Jack’s actions, but the police do not seem convinced of his guilt.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Joe and the investigating detectives, Ruiz and Devi, remains tense as Joe continues to withhold information and act suspiciously. The episode also sees the return of DJ, a plumber with sexual chemistry with Joe’s wife, who chases away an intruder from their home.
