The Voice, April 15, 2024, NBC, “The Knockouts Part 2”
The Voice returns to NBC with “The Knockouts Part 2,” the second installment of the highly anticipated Knockout Rounds. Country music superstar Keith Urban joins the show as the Mega Mentor, offering his expertise to the artists as they prepare for their performances.
In this exciting episode, the coaches—Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and the duo Dan + Shay—pair their artists to perform solo against each other. The winners of each Knockout will advance to the playoffs, with each coach having the opportunity to steal one losing artist from another team.
The Knockouts follow the Battle Rounds, where the coaches prepared their artists to go head-to-head, resulting in winners who advanced to the Knockouts and some stolen artists who joined new teams. The Battle Rounds concluded in the previous episode, setting the stage for the highly competitive Knockouts.
Last week the first artists to work with Mega Mentor Keith Urban were Asher HaVon and Tae Lewis from Team Reba. HaVon worked on his song choice, “Unbreak My Heart,” while Lewis chose to sing “Nothing On You,” showcasing his gospel roots. Their performances impressed the coaches, with Chance the Rapper calling HaVon’s rendition one of the best in the show’s history.
Another pair of artists facing off were Frank Garcia and Olivia Rubini from Team Dan + Shay. Garcia performed “El Triste” entirely in Spanish, a song choice that gave him a chance to redeem himself after facing online bullying for a previous performance. On the other hand, Rubini opted for “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John, taking on the challenge to sing it in a higher key as suggested by Mega Mentor Keith Urban.
Team Chance’s Dani Stacy and Serenity Arce also went head-to-head, with Stacy dedicating her song choice, “Jaded” by Miley Cyrus, to a friend who passed away. Arce, a four-chair turn contestant, performed Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” showcasing her willingness to take risks.
Team Reba’s Ashley Bryant and Josh Sanders presented their solo performances, with Bryant sharing her connection to “Heads Carolina, Tails California” and Sanders dedicating his song, “Wild as Her,” to his daughters.
This week there will be more intense competition and tough decisions as the coaches narrow down their teams and the artists fight for their chance to advance to the playoffs.
The Voice airs on NBC at 8.00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2024.
