This is Going to Hurt – Binge Release Trailer for Upcoming Aus Premiere
This is Going to Hurt, a new BBC drama starring Ben Whishaw, arrives on Binge with all seven episodes available at once.
Adam Kay developed, wrote, and executive produced the series, which is based on his award-winning, international best-selling memoir of the same name. The fictional series is a rich and subtle comedic drama with fully developed characters. It depicts Kay’s own first-hand experiences as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist, providing an unvarnished and honest depiction of life on these wards.
This is Going to Hurt follows Adam (Whishaw), a doctor working his way up the hospital hierarchy — young enough to bear the long hours but senior enough to confront a never-ending bombardment of dreadful duties. Adam is clinging to his personal life as he becomes increasingly stressed at work: 97-hour weeks, life-or-death decisions, and the knowledge that the hospital parking metre earns more than he does.
Whishaw is joined by newcomer Ambika Mod, Michele Austin (Meet the Richardsons), Alex Jennings (The Crown), Kadiff Kirwan (Chewing Gum), Ashley McGuire (This Country), Harriet Walter (Succession), Rory Fleck Byrne (Harlots) and Tom Durant-Pritchard (The Crown).
Created, written and executive produced by Adam Kay, This Is Going To Hurt is commissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama, is executive produced by Naomi de Pear (Don’t Forget The Driver) and Jane Featherstone (Chernobyl) for Sister, James Farrell (House of the Dragon) for Terrible Productions, Mona Qureshi for BBC One, as well as Kristin Jones and Dan McDermott for AMC. Whishaw also serves as Executive Producer. The series is produced by Holly Pullinger (Don’t Forget The Driver) with Lucy Forbes (In My Skin) directing the first four episodes and Tom Kingsley (Ghosts) directing the other three episodes. The international distribution of the series will be handled by BBC Studios.
