Two Doors Down Moves to BBC One for Season 7
The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning comedy “Two Doors Down” from BBC Studios Comedy Productions has been renewed for a new 6-episode, 30-minute season. The show is moving to BBC One, although it will still focus on the residents of Latimer Crescent as before. The show’s production will begin this summer, and it will air later in the year.
The beloved comedy has amassed a loyal following that has increased with each season. Over the course of 30 days, 2.8 million people across all platforms watched the most recent Christmas special. As such, it was the show’s most successful viewing week since its 2013 premiere.
Co-creators Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle said: “We’re excited to be spreading our wings and lowering the tone as we introduce BBC One audiences to life in Latimer Crescent.”
Josh Cole, Head of Comedy and Steven Canny, Executive Producer, BBC Studios, said: “We couldn’t be more proud of the success story that is Two Doors Down. It’s an absolute joy to work on and loved by a large loyal fanbase that have embraced these families and neighbours as though their own over the years! We can’t wait to get going on series seven and look forward to the move to BBC One.”
Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning at the BBC, says: “Two Doors Down continues on its understated march towards classic BBC sitcom status with the last series pulling in some of its highest viewing figures to date. We’re delighted to be doing more and are excited to see the show move to BBC One for a whole new legion of fans to enjoy.”
Two Doors Down is a BBC Studios Comedy Production for BBC One, written by Simon Carlyle and Gregor Sharp. It is Executive Produced by Steven Canny and Josh Cole for BBC Studios and Seb Barwell is the Commissioning Editor for the BBC.
All previous series of Two Doors Down are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
