Apple TV+ has revealed exciting plans to expand its science fiction offerings with a new 10-episode drama titled “Neuromancer.” The show is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by William Gibson and will be created for television by Graham Roland and JD Dillard. It is being produced in collaboration between Skydance Television, Anonymous Content, and Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment.
“Neuromancer” follows the story of Case, a skilled super-hacker who finds himself embroiled in a world of digital espionage and high-stakes crime. Teaming up with Molly, a razor-girl assassin with unique features, they set out to pull off an audacious heist on a powerful corporate dynasty hiding dark secrets.
The creators and executive producers of “Neuromancer,” Graham Roland and JD Dillard, expressed their excitement about bringing this iconic property to Apple TV+. They have been friends for almost ten years and consider this collaboration to be a dream come true. According to them, Gibson’s groundbreaking work has influenced much of the science fiction genre that followed, making it an ideal fit for television audiences.
The series will be executive produced by Roland and Dillard, alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell from Skydance Television; Anonymous Content; Drake, Adel ‘Future’ Nur, Jason Shrier from DreamCrew Entertainment; Zack Hayden; as well as William Gibson himself.
William Gibson’s debut novel “Neuromancer” is highly regarded within the cyberpunk genre. It has received numerous accolades including the Nebula Award, Philip K. Dick Award, and Hugo Award. The novel serves as the first installment in the Sprawl trilogy which also includes “Count Zero” and “Mona Lisa Overdrive.”
This latest project adds to Apple TV+’s impressive lineup of original content developed in partnership with Skydance Television. Among them are the critically acclaimed “Foundation,” currently in production for its third season; the much-anticipated second season of “The Big Door Prize”; and a comedy series featuring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson created by David West Read.
The collaboration between Apple TV+ and Anonymous Content has been fruitful, with a string of successful film and television projects. Upcoming works include the highly anticipated series “The Savant” starring Jessica Chastain, Taika Waititi’s “Time Bandits,” Alfonso Cuarón’s “Disclaimer,” as well as the Golden Globe-nominated film “Swan Song,” the Peabody Award-winning series “Dickinson,” and limited series such as “Defending Jacob” and “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.”
