Fear, The (ITV 1988, Iain Glen, Susannah Harker)

In five part crime drama The Fear, Carl Galton is the leader of tough underworld gang, he is something of a designer gangster with his extravagant lifestyle and expensive cars. He has set his sights on becoming leader of the North London scene.

The Fear was, at the time, a very modern take on the underworld and garnered a lot of publicity with a star making turn for Iain Glen as Carl. The rest of the cast was excellent too, Jerome Flynn and Jesse Birdsall were key gang members, Susannah Harker was Linda, Carl’s hard done by wife. The excellent Denis Lill was rival gang leader Klein and Anthony Valentine was Tony Slater, another gang boss.
