Give Us A Kiss, Christabel (BBC Drama, Dennis Waterman, Jan Francis)

In short romantic comedy Give Us A Kiss, Christabel, written by Alan Plater and screened as part of the BBC’s directors new to TV strand Premiere, Wilfred (Dennis Waterman), who works in a street market, is desperate to get a kiss off the beautiful Christabel (Jan Francis) who runs her own junk stall.

Director Peter Farrell had been working as a production assistant at BBC Birmingham and had previously worked as stage manager at both the London Festival Ballet and the National Theatre. Despite Premiere being a work for new directors Farrell had already directed a play, To Glasgow With Love by Dominic Behan, for BBC Scotland.

TV Presenter Joan Bakewell popped up in a guest role as herself.
