Single-Handed (RTE 2007-2010, Owen McDonnell)

Crime drama series Single-Handed takes us into the heart of rural West Ireland (it’s filmed in Connemara) where Segeant Jack Driscoll of the Garda (the Irish police) lives above the station and tackles crime, helped and hindered in equal measure by his deputy Finbarr.

The series is made by Irish TV station RTE and between 2007 and 2009 there was just one two part story each year (these are usually grouped together as a single series when seen outside of Ireland) but in 2010 it went to a full six part series (of three two part stories) and opened out the cast somewhat with the arrival of a cousin of Jack’s called Brian along with his girlfriend Gemma.

Also a regular was Costello a former Guard turned owner of Mallon’s bar, he is not really out to help Jack though and has an agenda of his own.
