Croí na Ceiste le Caoimhe: Episode 1 (9 May on BBC Two Northern Ireland)
Caoimhe asks how important religion and spirituality are to young people in Northern Ireland today in this episode.
Religion has many connotations in Northern Ireland, and it is linked to the country’s sometimes dark history, but do young people still find a place for faith in their lives? Caoimhe meets with young people from all walks of life across the country, including Donegal resident Sam Fearraigh, who talks about his recent conversion to Judaism, and County Down student Anna N Nualláin, who was raised as an atheist.
Caoimhe attends a dinner party in Belfast to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and learns about different religious celebrations. She also visits the sacred Hill of Uisneach in County Westmeath to participate in a fire ceremony and learn about ancient Irish religious practises. Will Caoimhe be any more aware of the role religion plays in her generation’s lives?
