Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star: Episode 7 (S4EP7 BBC Three Wed 22 June 2022)
The MUAs take on London Fashion Week, joining the make-up team for British fashion designer Mark Fast, assisting make-up artist Pablo Rodriguez. In Glow Up Studios, they must impress by creating looks based on an act of rebellion.
In episode seven, the four remaining MUAs hit London Fashion Week, as they are booked to do the make-up for British Fashion Designer Mark Fast, under the watchful and talented eye of key make-up artist of the show, Pablo Rodriguez.
After a demonstration from Pablo, the MUAs are thrown straight in at the deep end, working under pressure and with tight deadlines to deliver the high standard Dominic and Val expect for London Fashion Week. Each MUA must complete two looks on models walking in the show, but if they aren’t good enough they will have their models taken off them for touch-ups and putting them in jeopardy of a red Face-Off chair.
The next day, at Glow Up Studios the MUAs gather to find out which two were judged to have performed the worst at London Fashion Week. They start the day in the red Face-Off chairs and with a 15-minute time penalty in the Creative Brief. For these two MUAs, the only way to escape the elimination Face Off at the end of the show is to wow the judges in the Creative Brief and hope another MUA fails to impress and take their place.
This week’s Creative Brief sees the MUAs challenged to create a look that represents a moment of rebellion in our MUAs life, something that goes against the norm and breaks the rules.
Inspired by the final collection of Alexander McQueen, one MUA honours their childhood hero to illustrate their fashionable rebellion moment, whilst another MUA battles with a large prosthetic headpiece to explore their clash of faith and sexuality. But will they achieve enough brush strokes before their time runs out?
Another MUA wants to celebrate female literary figures who had to publish their work under male pseudonyms, breaking all the rules and leaving their mark on history, and our final MUA tackles westernised beauty standards, creating a look rebelling against what society deems beautiful.
The judge’s feed back, and deliberate over which two MUAs produced the weakest looks, before revealing who will go head to head in the elimination Face Off – a make-up skill drill under intense time pressure – where they are tasked with creating a graphic black oval eye.
Following this, one MUA packs up their make-up kit and leaves the competition.
