Today Sunday 5 February 2023, there is a new episode of Songs of Praise.

Hidden Gems Aled Jones and his tour guide, Joanna Bogle, explore London in search of secret gem churches. From Holborn, Aled and his company are led through the winding streets of the City of London to Fleet Street, where they will learn about the remarkable connection between the church and the media. We learn why one cathedral was dubbed “the Jerusalem of London,” and Joanna, our tour guide, tells us about her uncle, a pilot who was killed in World War II, at the Royal Air Force Memorial.

Inside the doors of a stunning Mayfair church, Laura Wright finds a recording studio that broadcasts daily meditations to a global audience of more than 100,000. In addition, Laura finds out that there is an app that can assist even the busiest of commuters squeeze in some quiet time for meditation on the Gospels.

The Prince’s Foundation runs an exhibition space out of a Grade II listed chapel in the middle of a modern property complex in Chelsea, where students can learn about the ancient art of iconography. Traditional arts instructor Irina Bradley discusses the meaning of icons and how she feels God healed her cancer after praying in front of a Mary icon.

Songs of Praise is a BBC Television religious programme that presents Christian hymns which first aired in October 1961. The first edition was broadcast from the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cardiff, and the series is one of the longest-running of its kind on television anywhere in the world.
