BritBox has announced an expanded deal with BAFTA, securing the broadcast rights for the EE BAFTA Film Awards and the BAFTA Television Awards. The agreement includes exclusive simulcast streaming of both ceremonies in 2024 and 2025 for BritBox audiences in several countries, including the US, Canada, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Australia.

The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will air in May 2024 and will showcase the best television content from 2023. This marks the first time that the television awards will be broadcast in North America, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway.

The 77th EE BAFTA Film Awards will be streamed live from London on February 18th, 2024. The event will be hosted by David Tennant, with Clara Amfo and Alex Zane hosting the red carpet coverage.

Reemah Sakaan, CEO of BritBox International, expressed excitement about the partnership between BritBox and BAFTA. She stated that BritBox is known for its collection of top-quality British content and iconic cultural events. Sakaan added “BritBox and BAFTA have a shared vision to celebrate the very best of British creativity so it has been a pleasure to work together to expand our partnership to include both the BAFTA Film and Television awards later this spring.”

The simulcast streaming of these awards ceremonies on BritBox provides international audiences with a front-row seat to celebrate excellence in British film and television. It allows fans outside of the UK to join in recognizing outstanding achievements in both industries. With its expanded deal with BAFTA, BritBox strengthens its position as a global platform for British entertainment and reinforces its commitment to showcasing the best of British creativity.
