Crime Thriller The Better Sister set for Prime Video
Prime Video has ordered a new series, “The Better Sister,” starring Jessica Biel (“The Sinner,” “Candy”) and Elizabeth Banks (“Call Jane,” “Pitch Perfect”). The series is based on the novel by Alafair Burke and is described as an “electric thriller.”
The story centres on Chloe (Biel), a woman with a seemingly perfect life—a handsome lawyer husband, Adam, and a teenage son, Ethan. Her estranged sister, Nicky (Banks), struggles with addiction and financial difficulties. When Adam is murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, exposing long-buried secrets.
The series will be directed by Craig Gillespie (“Pam & Tommy”), with Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado serving as showrunners and executive producers. It is a co-production between Tomorrow Studios and Amazon MGM Studios.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, praised the series as “a gripping story about family feuds and forgiveness.” He expressed confidence in the cast, stating, “The brilliant duo of Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks are sure to bring these characters to life in the most authentic way.”
Marty Adelstein, founder and CEO of Tomorrow Studios, shared similar sentiments, calling the adaptation a “true labor of love.” He highlighted the exploration of sisterhood dynamics and the talent involved, including the “world-class actresses” Biel and Banks.
“The Better Sister” will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
