Jeopardy! Recap, Winner & Final Answer Wednesday February 21, 2024
In the latest episode of “Jeopardy!” on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the Champions Wildcard round featured three talented contestants: Mira Hayward from Portland, Oregon; Jesse Matheny originally from Huntington, Indiana; and Deb Bilodeau from San Francisco, California.
The categories in the first round were Science Quiz, 1990s Music, Fun & Games, Boozy (relating to alcoholic beverages), It’s Reigning Men! (about famous men), and Halleluhah! In this round, Jesse took a risk by placing a significant wager on a Daily Double question in the Halleluhah! category. The clue explored the different meanings of “Halleluhah!” as both an interjection conveying enthusiasm and as a unit of scientific measurement. However, his wager did not pay off as he answered incorrectly.
At the first break, Deb held the lead with a score of 5,200 points followed closely by Jesse with 3,800 points and Mira with 2,800 points.
Moving into Double Jeopardy!, new categories included Places to Visit (highlighting tourist destinations), American Authors (focusing on literary figures), Art & Artists (exploring artistic subjects), Ends in “ir,” Extremely Random Calculations (testing numerical knowledge), and Mr. Steve Martin (featuring clues related to the renowned actor).
Jesse once again faced a challenging decision when encountering another Daily Double question under Places to Visit. Unfortunately for him, he lost a significant amount of points with an incorrect response. On another note in Art & Artists category regarding Picasso’s preferred subject matter—his daughter’s name translated from Spanish—he provided a correct response to gain some ground.
Entering Final Jeopardy!, Deb led comfortably with 13,600 points while Jesse had accumulated 5,400 points and Mira trailed behind at 9,800 points.
The Final Jeopardy! category for this episode was 19th Century Americans. Only Deb answered correctly, as she identified Who Was Wyatt Earp? as the man accused of fixing a championship boxing match in 1896. With her successful response and strategic wager, Deb maintained her lead into the next game.
The final scores for game one were as follows: Deb with 21,600 points, Jesse with 2,800 points, and Mira also with 2,800 points.
Be sure to tune in to “Jeopardy!” to catch the exciting second round and see if Deb can maintain her advantage in the Champions Wildcard competition.
