Jeopardy! Recap, Winner & Today’s Final Answer Wednesday March 27, 2024

In Wednesday’s episode of Jeopardy!, part of the Invitational Tournament, three contestants battled it out for a chance to move on to the next round. Brandon Blackwell, a writer and TV personality from Jamaica, New York; Jennifer Quail, a wine-tasting consultant from Dowagiac, Michigan; and Alex Jacob, an online trivia league host from Tulsa, Oklahoma were today’s players.

The categories in this episode included “TRENDING,” “MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS,” “EQUINE WORDS,” “AUTO PARTS 101,” “CRUISE LINES,” and “PORTS OF CALL.” Brandon quickly took the lead with his knowledge of musical instruments by correctly answering a question about an etherophone used by The Beach Boys.

As the game progressed into Double Jeopardy!, new categories emerged such as “DURING JAMES BUCHANAN’S PRESIDENCY,” “ARCHITECTS,” “WORLD LITERATURE,” “MUSIC COLLABS,” “I’VE GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU,” and finally, “THE 3 ‘R’s.”

Jennifer made a strong comeback during this round by correctly answering a question about James Buchanan’s presidency. Meanwhile, Brandon showcased his depth of knowledge in world literature with an answer related to Hermann Hesse’s novel. These successful plays allowed both Jennifer and Brandon to secure their positions at the top of the leaderboard.

Heading into Final Jeopardy!, Jennifer held onto her lead with 22,000 points while Alex trailed behind with 14,200 points and Brandon followed closely with 18,799 points. The final category was “OLD WORDS.” The question was First appearing in an English dictionary in 1623, mesonoxian means pertaining to this word.

In the end, only Jennifer answered correctly by identifying that mesonoxian pertains to midnight. Her correct response earned her double her score for a total of 22,000 points and secured her spot in the next round.
