Moonshiners: Master Distiller returns with an intriguing episode, “Lucky But Illegal,”airing on Discovery on Tuesday April 30, exploring the world of distilling and the fine line between legal and illegal practices. Tonight the spotlight is on the Irish forefather of moonshine—Poitin, a high-proof spirit that remains outlawed in Northern Ireland.
The episode features three skilled distillers who bring their own ingredients and rebel spirit to the competition. However, only one will emerge as the Master Distiller, crowned for their exceptional distilling prowess.
Moonshiners: Master Distiller is a spin-off of the popular series Moonshiners, which first premiered in 2011. The original series dramatizes the lives of people producing illegal moonshine in the Appalachian Mountains, showcasing their liquor production, law-evading techniques, and personal stories.
The spin-off, Moonshiners: Master Distiller, takes a different approach by introducing a competitive element. Each episode features a specific type of spirit, such as American whiskey, rum, gin, mountain brandy, or mezcal, challenging the competitors to showcase their creativity and expertise. The show is hosted by a panel of judges who evaluate the distillers’ creations.
Moonshiners: Master Distiller – Lucky But Illegal airs on the Discovery Channel at 10:00 p.m. on April 30, 2024.
