In Goondy Creek, NSW, we meet Debbie and Snip, proud parents of a litter of ten beautiful Australian Border Collies. From this litter, five pups will take center stage as we witness their growth over the course of twelve months in this groundbreaking experiment.

Bred by Mick Hudson, a renowned dog trialling champion and educator, these puppies come from bloodlines that boast more than a century of Australian dog trial champions. The question remains: can this new generation live up to the legacy of their ancestors and become Champion Muster Dogs?

Neil McDonald returns as our expert trainer, armed with an updated training approach tailored specifically for Border Collies. Throughout the season, key milestones are set at five, seven, ten, and twelve months as we eagerly follow the progress of these pups. Can they be trained within twelve months to become skilled working dogs? And what insights will we gain into their natural instincts along the way?

After thirteen weeks of training, these precious puppies are entrusted to five graziers across Australia who are eager to take on the challenge. Zoe in Northern Territory, Steve in Winton, Queensland, Lily and her mother in Wilcannia, NSW, Cilla juggling farm work and family life in Ban Ban Springs, Queensland, and Russ – a seventh-generation grazier – in Bothwell Tasmania all welcome us into their lives as they embrace the joy and challenges that come with raising a muster dog.

As training commences for the first milestone assessment at five months old, these mischievous puppies are given names that will surely steal your heart: Buddy, Indi, Snow, Ash, and Molly.
