Rachel Weisz’s Limited Series “Dead Ringers” Will Premiere This April on Prime Video
In the anticipated psychological thriller “Dead Ringers”, Rachel Weisz (Disobedience, The Favourite, Black Widow) plays OBGYN twins Beverly and Elliot Mantle. The date was confirmed today by Prime Video.
Weisz also produces the show. Creator, writer, and EP of the limited series is playwright and Emmy nominee Alice Birch (Normal People, Succession, The Wonder). On April 21, all six episodes will launch exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories across the world.
Dead Ringers is a remake of David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller, which starred Jeremy Irons. Rachel Weisz will play the dual lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, identical twins who are unafraid to do whatever it takes, including stepping outside the bounds of medical ethics, to bring attention to the plight of women in need of medical attention. Britne Oldford (The Umbrella Academy, American Horror Story: Asylum), Poppy Liu (Hacks, Better Call Saul), Michael Chernus (Severance, Orange Is the New Black), Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, Saint Maud), and Emily Meade (The Deuce, The Leftovers) star as Genevieve, Greta, Tom, and Rebecca, respectively, in the series.
Sean Durkin, known for his work on films including “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” “The Nest,” and “The Iron Claw,” directed the first two episodes and co-directed the last episode. Durkin is also one of the show’s executive producer. Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, Girlfight), Karena Evans (P-Valley, Snowfall), and Lauren Wolkstein are the other members of the directing team (A Friend of the Family, Y: The Last Man).
The television show Dead Ringers is a collaboration between Amazon Studios and Annapurna Television. Showrunner Alice Birch, along with Astral Projection’s Rachel Weisz, Stacy O’Neil, Sue Naegle, and Sean Durkin, make up the executive producing team. Annapurna Television’s executive producer is Ali Krug. Executive producers also include Erica Kay, Anne Carey, and Polly Stokes. As executive producers for Morgan Creek, James G. Robinson, David Robinson, and Barbara Wall were indispensable.
