“Ted Lasso” Season 3 Will Premiere March 15 on Apple TV+
Apple TV+ announced today that the third season of its global phenomenon “Ted Lasso,” which has won back-to-back Emmy® Awards for its first two seasons, will premiere globally on Wednesday, March 15. New episodes will release every Wednesday thereafter. As the first midweek premiere of an Apple TV+ series, “Ted Lasso” has moved to Wednesdays.
In the 12 episode third season Nate (Nick Mohammed), now heralded as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United, while the newly-promoted AFC Richmond is mocked by the media since they are widely predicted to finish last in the Premier League.
After Nate’s acrimonious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) replaces him as an assistant coach, working alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). While Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is determined to defeat Rupert, and Keeley (Juno Temple) learns the ropes as the head of her own public relations firm, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) struggles with pressures at work while also dealing with personal concerns at home. The team’s on-field and off-field woes have seemingly overwhelmed them, but they’re ready to give it their all nevertheless.
With four wins, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Jason Sudeikis), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Brett Goldstein), and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, the second season of “Ted Lasso” set a new record for the most Emmys won by a comedy in a single year (MJ Delaney). With two consecutive victories for Outstanding Comedy Series, the show has joined an elite group: “Modern Family,” “30 Rock,” “Frasier,” “The Golden Girls,” “Cheers,” “All in the Family,” and “The Phil Silvers Show.”
Season one of “Ted Lasso” on Apple TV+ was the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy series in history, and the show soon became a critical and ratings success around the world after its premiere. Awards for “Ted Lasso” include not only Emmys, but also the prestigious Peabody Award, a SAG Award for Sudeikis’s Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, and three Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Sudeikis, and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hannah Waddingham, respectively.
In “Ted Lasso,” Jason Sudeikis plays the title character, an inexperienced American football coach who is appointed to lead a British soccer team. His ignorance, however, is offset by his boundless enthusiasm, underdog tenacity, and biscuits. Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, Anthony Head, Toheeb Jimoh, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris, James Lance, and Juno Temple all star in this critically acclaimed Apple Original comedy.
In addition to starring, Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content. Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Bill Wrubel also serve as executive producers, along with Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Jane Becker and Jamie Lee also serve as executive producers. Star Brett Goldstein serves as writer and co-executive producer. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.
Viewers can catch up on seasons one and two of “Ted Lasso,” now streaming globally on Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app.
