Showtime’s “A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW” Will PREMIERE March 29
SHOWTIME has announced a premiere date for “A Gentleman in Moscow.” The eight-episode adaptation of Amor Towles’ best-selling novel will debut on Friday, March 29, on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan. It will then air on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME on Sunday, March 31, at 9 PM ET/PT.
The series follows Count Alexander Rostov, portrayed by Emmy Award-winning actor Ewan McGregor, who finds himself on the wrong side of history after the Russian Revolution. Rather than being executed immediately, he is banished to an attic room in the luxurious Hotel Metropol by a Soviet tribunal and warned never to leave or face death. As the years pass and significant events unfold outside the hotel’s doors, Rostov’s circumstances lead him to discover a new world of emotional growth within the hotel’s walls. He learns about the true value of friendship, family, and love.
Ewan McGregor is joined by his real-life wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead as glamorous film actress Anna Urbanova. The cast also includes Alexa Goodall as Nina, the Count’s young friend; Johnny Harris as secret police officer Osip; and Fehinti Balogun as Mishka, the Count’s best friend from university. Leah Harvey, Paul Ready, John Heffernan, Lyès Salem, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Dee Ahluwalia, and Anastasia Hille round out the ensemble.
“A Gentleman in Moscow” is produced by Lionsgate Television in association with Paramount. Ben Vanstone serves as executive producer and showrunner for the series. Tom Harper’s company Popcorn Storm Pictures has a first look deal with Lionsgate and is involved in this production. Harper will also executive produce alongside Ewan McGregor, Sharon Hughff, Pancho Mansfield, Xavier Marchand, and Amor Towles. Sam Miller serves as director for select episodes and executive producer, while Sarah O’Gorman also serves as a director.
Fans of the novel will be able to experience the beloved story come to life when “A Gentleman in Moscow” premieres on March 29th.
