The Traitors US, Australia and NZ Head to BBC iPlayer
The BBC is set to satisfy the cravings of The Traitors fans by bringing three international versions of the hit reality entertainment show to its streaming platform, BBC iPlayer, throughout 2024. This news comes hot on the heels of the highly anticipated conclusion of the second series of the UK version.
For those unfamiliar with The Traitors, it is a psychological reality game show that revolves around tactics, betrayal, suspicion, and manipulation. Contestants vying for the prize fund must work together to eliminate all traitors among them; if a traitor manages to make it to the end undetected, they steal all winnings for themselves.
The UK version has garnered significant acclaim and popularity among audiences since its debut. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman and produced by Studio Lambert.
Australia’s second season premieres immediately after The Traitors: Uncloaked on BBC Two. Hosted by Rodger Corser and presented as a boxset on iPlayer from 6am GMT today (26 January).
Later in 2024 will see another exciting addition arrive on our screens—The Traitors US hosted by Alan Cumming. Produced once again by Studio Lambert who have masterminded these international adaptations in collaboration with All3Media International—the format holder behind this thrilling franchise—fans can expect players such as former House of Commons speaker John Bercow and previous Love Island contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu pitting their wits against each other in an exhilarating display of cunning strategy.
Completing this lineup is The Traitors NZ hosted by Paul Henry—a captivating entry guaranteed not only due to his reputation but also because New Zealand contestants’ gameplay offers unique flavor for enthusiasts everywhere.
Dan McGolpin, Director of BBC iPlayer and Channels, has expressed his enthusiasm for this global extension of The Traitors franchise. He believes the series holds immense thrill for audiences, reflecting on its ability to maintain a firm grip on viewers’ attention.
Excitingly, applications remain open for the third series of the UK edition—meaning aspiring players can still seize their chance at fame within this ruthless competition. Detailed information about application procedures can be found at BBC Shows, Tours & Take Part.
Originally developed by IDTV in the Netherlands—an All3Media company—the format later underwent refinement with RTL Creative Unit before being produced by IDTV itself. Thanks to licensing efforts from All3Media International’s dedicated team, fans around the world have been able to enjoy different iterations of this gripping show set in various countries.
