Something In The City (ITV 1959, Eric Barker, Deryck Guyler)
Sitcom Something In The City detailed the exploits of three businessmen in the city who travel to work together on the same train. The three were George Keyes (played by Eric Barker), Freddie Chiddock (Deryck Guyler) and Joe Miller (Peter Hammond). The action also followed the men at home. Joan Benham was George’s wife Betty, Pearl Hackney was Phyl Chiddock and Diane Hart played Joe’s wife Maisie. Pearl Hackney’s was actually married in real life to Eric Barker.
No writer credits were given but the series was based on an American sketch called the Commuters (Sid Caesar, Carl Reiner and Howard Morris starred as the trio) that was part of NBC’s Caesar’s Hour.
