Black Sails VII (Starz 8 Mar 2014, with Toby Schmitz)
In Black Sails VII, machinations are piling on top of machinations. Following the apparent demise of Billy the crew have surprisingly made Dufresne the new quartermaster. Gates questions Flint about the letter. Flint makes it plain that Miranda Barlow will say anything to get off the island. He also tells Gates what he is really going to do with the money they hope to get from the Urca. He still intends to make the crew richer than imaginings but the bulk of the money will go towards his grand plan of taking on the English Royal Navy. What Flint doesn’t know though is that the crew have every intention of killing him once they have got their hands on the gold aboard the Urca.
Silver finds himself in trouble when the now one legged Randall is kicked off the crew and decides to spill the beans about how Silver came by the schedule in the first place.
Vane has made his way to another island ruled over by former pirate Albinus who has retired to run a timber business. His crew are all still with him and Vane hopes to persuade him to let him take some of them in a bid to take control of Nassau. Despite Albinus agreeing to the deal Vane tries to persuade the whole crew to come with him. Albinus is none too pleased and beats Vane to a pulp and throwing him into a grave.
Meanwhile Max, who is now living at the brothel owned by Vane and managed by Rackham, spots an opportunity to take a leadership role.
As the screen fades to black and you think the episode ends with Flint’s ships sailing off in search of Urca we come to the realisation that Vane isn’t actually dead. He emerges from his dirt grave and kills Albinus.
