Armchair Theatre (ITV 1956-1974)

A long running series of individual plays which in the early days of its existence led the way in ‘Kitchen Sink’ style realism on British TV.Sydney Newman, a Canadian, was very influential in the direction the plays took and he was poached by the BBC in 1963 where he would go on to create Doctor Who.
