Frank Sinatra’s Iconic Royal Festival Hall Concert on BBC Four Friday 29 December
On Friday, 29th December 2023, at 7:50pm, BBC FOUR presents a special treat for fans of the legendary Frank Sinatra. Relive the magic of the Sinatra concert at the iconic Royal Festival Hall in 1970.
Filmed on November 16, 1970, this concert was the culmination of a two-night charity event called Night of Nights. The event was introduced by none other than Princess Grace of Monaco, who took the stage in place of the originally planned host, the incomparable Noël Coward, who was unfortunately unwell.
Under the direction of Stanley Dorfman and produced by Harold Davison, the concert showcases the timeless performances of Frank Sinatra, accompanied by the brilliant musical direction and conducting of Bill Miller. Sinatra’s smooth vocals and magnetic stage presence captivate the audience, just as they did over five decades ago.
Not only was this a night of unforgettable music, but it was also a night of giving. The concert raised an impressive £100,000 in ticket sales, demonstrating the enduring appeal and generosity of Sinatra’s fans.
So, mark your calendars for an evening of nostalgia and incredible music on Friday, 29th December 2023, at 7:50pm, on BBC FOUR. Relish in the charm and talent of Frank Sinatra as he takes the stage at the Royal Festival Hall, reminding us all why he remains an enduring icon of music history.
