What can we expect from this episode
The Okavango Delta in southern Africa is like an inland ocean peppered with a thousand islands – where the sun battles floodwater for control. As the seasons change, worlds are created, and then taken away. To survive every animal, whether termite queen or elephant bull, must cope, with a state of never-ending change.
When the flood waters are high, Chief’s Island is a paradise for predators, and a clan of hyenas lead by another dominant queen, claim the largest island in the delta, but must defend it against lethal lions and revenge attacks from wild dogs. When the seasons turn, the waters drop and valuable herds of prey can escape, leaving all the predators high and dry. Only the toughest and most resourceful can survive.
A look at the ecosystems of six islands, examining how the geology and origins of each have forced the animals that evolved there to interact as they do nowhere else.
