During one of Melbourne’s worst storms, a man goes missing. Police make every effort to find him before it’s too late after learning that he has a history of seizures, isn’t good at swimming, and wasn’t prepared for the cold weather.

Every year, over 50,000 people in Australia disappear. That works out to one individual every seven minutes.

Every missing person case is unique; whether they went missing due to an accident or were murdered, their loved ones are devastated and will do anything to find them.

Now, with unprecedented access, you can watch as investigators from all over Australia race the clock to deliver answers to grieving families.
We are there from the very first frantic call to the very end of each riveting case. Detectives investigate every possible angle of a case, from interviews with potential witnesses to reviews of surveillance footage.

Every second is crucial. While worried loved ones wait for word, Australia’s finest do battle with the elements to coordinate tense searches across treacherous terrain using sophisticated tools like helicopters, drones, divers, and tracker dogs in addition to traditional methods like forensic analysis.
Families hold on to hope as tightly as they can, but every hour that passes without a missing person being found is another hour of hope lost. The search for a missing person may bring miraculous joy to some people. It’s heartbreak for some people. For a select few, the frantic quest for clarification continues.

This eight-part series, produced with the help of the Australian Federal Police National Missing Persons Coordination Centre, immerses viewers in the action as they team up with law enforcement in Tasmania, Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and the Northern Territory to find missing people.
