What can we expect from this episode
This week on Q&A, we’ll be talking about who has power, how they use it, and what changes they’ve brought about. We will examine the media mogul’s influence over the course of his seven-decade career as Rupert Murdoch prepares to hand over the reins of Fox and News Corp to his son Lachlan. The Australian-born billionaire is widely believed to have swayed the fate of entire governments.
Meanwhile, a federal enquiry into the COVID-19 response is in the works, with the prime minister already facing criticism for excluding state and territory decisions from the scope of the enquiry. Australians witnessed the extraordinary power exercised by states during the pandemic, but will the enquiry go far enough if it doesn’t investigate lockdowns and border closures?
The debate is heating up as the day of the Voice to Parliament referendum approaches. Both the Yes and No sides are actively campaigning in Australia, but how well are they doing?
Panellists:
Actress, Author & Child Protection Advocate Madeleine West,
Chair, Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee Peter Khalil,
Liberal Senator for Queensland Paul Scarr,
CEO, GetUp Larissa Baldwin-Roberts Broadcaster
& 3AW Drive host Tom Elliott
Q&A puts punters, pollies and pundits together in the studio to thrash out the hot issues of the week. It’s about democracy in action – the audience gets to ask the questions.
