Taskmaster Australia Returns 26 May for Season 2 on Channel 10
Tough-love host Tom Gleeson and sidekick Tom Cashman are back with a new batch of comedians facing ridiculous challenges
Taskmaster Australia is returning to Network 10 on Thursday 23 May at 7.30 pm, however you may be surprised when you see the contestants: instead of the previously announced second season, the network will air the third batch of comedians as Season 2.
The new season will feature comedy royalty Anne Edmonds, Jenny Tian, Josh Thomas, Lloyd Langford, and Wil Anderson. Each week, viewers will witness these five comedians go head-to-head in a series of ridiculous, rambunctious, and bewildering tasks to bag the highest points and win a golden version of host Tom Gleeson’s head. From building scarecrows to catching hot chips, will they have the prowess to win over our supreme Taskmaster?
Taskmaster is a comedy panel game show that sets five contestants a series of challenges that test their physical, creative, and lateral thinking skills. The Australian version is based on the UK series created by comedian Alex Horne and is produced for Network 10 by Avalon / Kevin & Co. The first season of the Australian version aired in early 2023, and two further series have been filmed back-to-back, to be aired in reverse order of filming.
The second season, originally filmed as the third, will feature Wil Anderson, Jenny Tian, Josh Thomas, and married couple Anne Edmonds and Lloyd Langford. The cast for the third season, originally filmed as the second and to be aired later this year, includes Peter Helliar, Mel Buttle, Aaron Chen, Concetta Caristo, and Rhys Nicholson.
Host Tom Gleeson, also known as the Taskmaster, is accompanied by his assistant, comedian Tom Cashman, also known as “lesser Tom”. The show’s tasks are filmed within the Taskmaster Retreat, with areas including The Lounge, The Kitchen, The Lab, and The Caravan. A final live task takes place in the studio, where the contestants sit on a row of chairs in alphabetical order of their forenames from left to right.
The Australian version of Taskmaster was first announced in October 2022 and premiered on 2 February 2023. The first season consisted of 10 episodes and featured contestants Julia Morris, Nina Oyama, Luke McGregor, Jimmy Rees, and Danielle Walker.
