Indecent Proposal (Paramount 1993, Robert Redford, Demi Moore)
Happily married couple Diana (Demi Moore) and David Murphy (Woody Harrelson) find themselves at risk of financial destitution when the recession hits them. Deciding to take a big risk, they head for Las Vegas hoping to win big on the tables. The gamble, however, proves disastrous. But enigmatic millionaire John Gage (Robert Redford) offers the couple an opportunity to save themselves from financial ruin. His proposal: that Diana spends a night with him for a cool one million dollars. It’s an offer that forces the couple to question their own moralities and confront the truth of their relationship.
Director Lyne, who specialises in steamy and often controversial high-concept Hollywood dramas including Nine ½ Weeks , Fatal Attraction and Lolita, prompted audiences to ask questions of themselves: what comes first, love or money? Adrian Lyne’s film drama also stars Seymour Cassel, Billy Bob Thornton and Oliver Platt, plus a cameo from Billy Connolly.
