The Apple TV+ series has been a hit with viewers, but will it be returning for another season?
“Palm Royale,” the Apple TV+ dramedy series set in 1960s Palm Beach, has captured the attention of viewers and critics alike. With a top flight cast, including Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, and Ricky Martin, the show has offered a glamorous yet nuanced portrayal of high society in the late ’60s. But will it be returning for a second season?
“Palm Royale” is based on the novel “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie” by Juliet McDaniel, and the first season covered the entirety of the book. The series was initially developed as a miniseries, and there has been no official announcement of a second season as of yet. However, star Leslie Bibb has revealed to Collider that a writers’ room for a potential second season is already open, and she shared her excitement about the potential direction of the show: “There’s a writers’ room that’s open, and we’ll see. Apple doesn’t okay anything until they see numbers, but I’ve heard rumblings. Wiig said, “Oh, my God, I can’t wait for you to see what would happen.” It’s pretty wild. It’s pretty exciting… I think if we get a Season 2, it’s gonna be pretty wild.”
The show’s creator, Abe Sylvia, has also expressed a desire to continue the story, saying that while the first season stands on its own, there is room for more: “I know with Mike White, when we were developing Enlightened, that was always a gorgeous question to ask: How can something stand on its own, and be cinematic and true, and then how can you just also start all over again?”
With positive reviews and a dedicated fan base, “Palm Royale” certainly has the potential for a successful second season. The showrunners and writers have created a vibrant world and a fantastic ensemble cast, and there is clearly a desire from both the creative team and the viewers to see more.
