BBC Extend Morning Live For 2024 With New Presenters Joining Lineup
Returning to screens in the new year with a longer running time and a new presenter lineup, Morning Live, the popular live magazine daytime show produced by BBC Studios, will be back. On Mondays and Wednesdays beginning January 2, 2024, Gethin Jones will be joined by Helen Skelton and Michelle Ackerley, who will alternate as permanent presenters. On Thursdays, Kym Marsh will be the host, and Rav Wilding, Gaby Roslin, Sara Cox, and Kimberley Walsh will be regular guest hosts. Also, every weekday from 9:30 to 10:45, the show will air for 75 minutes instead of 45.
Helen Skelton expressed her excitement about becoming a regular member of the Morning Live family and being able to give people a voice on the show. She mentioned that the topics discussed on the show are what her friends and family are talking about, and she looks forward to being able to help in some small way. Michelle Ackerley also expressed her delight at joining the regular lineup and mentioned that the show can make a real difference in people’s lives. Gethin Jones, who has been with the show for some time, expressed his love for working with Helen and Michelle and looked forward to the laughs they will have on screen.
Morning Live was created during the pandemic as a one-stop shop for trusted consumer, money, and health advice. The show has won the Best Factual Series award at the Royal Television Society North West awards and draws up to 1.4 million viewers a day. It has held companies accountable, challenging fast food restaurants on the accuracy of calories labeled on their menus and exposing a supermarket for selling identical products in different packaging at different prices. The show has also highlighted violent gang crime on an online shopping site and fought on behalf of a viewer to get their money back from a bank. Its recent Scam Week was a success, with over 40,000 stickers given out to viewers to prevent them from being scammed.
Morning Live is a BBC Studios Factual Entertainment production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The Executive Editor for BBC Studios is Emma Morris, and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Rachel Platt.
